Brand storytelling #3

In today's post I will be posting a new task regarding a local brand that I have established the story use 12 Character archetypes and 7 Universal story plots, afterward I will evaluate it with 5 score system; originality, flexibility, elaboration, synthesis, artistic value.

12 Character archetypes

  • The caregiver (The nurturer is driven by their need to protect and care for others)

  • The artist (The creator is driven by their desire to produce exceptional and enduring works)

  • The lover (The lover lives to experience pleasure in their relationships, work and environment)

  • The superhero (The hero's main motivator is to prove their worth, and their greatest fears are weakness and failure)

  • The magician (The magician wants to understand the universe and their place in it)

  • The fool (The Jester wants to live in the moment and enjoy life, and they fear boredom above all else)

  • The king (The ruler is driven by their desire for power and control, and they are most afraid of chaos and being overthrown)

  • The rebel (The rebel craves revolution or revenge, and their greatest fear is powerlessness)

  • The teacher (The sage seeks the truth and wants to find the wisdom in every situation)

  • The seeker (The explorer craves adventure and wants to discover the world for themselves)

  • The innocent (The innocent’s core desire is to be free and happy, and their biggest fear is to do something wrong and be punished for it)

  • The everyman (The regular guy (or girl) only wants to belong and feel a part of something, and their greatest fear is to be left out or to stand out from the crowd)

The characters of the story are the everyman and superhero, because in this story idea I attempt to bring the reality of today's situation where many of employees are working from home during this 5 days lockdown. This situation surely affect some of them in working virtually therefore, I try to set up this ordinary man to be hero of himself in overcome his important task.

7 Universal story plot

  • Overcoming the monster

  • Comedy

  • Rags to riches

  • Tragedy

  • Voyage

  • Rebirth

  • Quest

The story plots in my story is overcoming the monster, because the character of this story attempt to overcome his sleepiness while working on his important task from his boss.

Brand storytelling

Brand: Nescafe Publicized: 18 July 2021

Title: Nescafe saves my day

Originality (4/5)

In this criteria I tried to approach the originality of a coffee in general, as we know in common the function of the coffee are 'help us stay up late' or 'accompany us while gathering with friend or family' thereby, in this short advertisement I succeed to bring one of those point but, not fully perfect.

Flexibility (2/5)

the idea of putting visible hand goes off the screen and gives the Nescafe to the character is one of the flexibility criteria in this short advertisement.

Elaboration (2/5)

the transformation of a simple idea where the character see the advertisement on YouTube suddenly change to a visible hand goes off the screen and offer him Nescafe.

Synthesis (1/5)

in this criteria, only one scene that shown unrelated object on display, like the hand goes off the screen.

Artistic Value (4/5)

with the range of editing technique that i have, I wanted to make this video as creative as possible to audiences to watch, therefore, I package all the pictures that i have edited equally into 1 frame of effect and put all the pictures into a short video that I have suit them with a song so that, it wont be boring and the impression of aesthetics is maintained well.
