Inspiration

Inspirational videos to make video aesthetic

Approach to the Video

The video is made to explain in general the topic of surveillance by describing the function of surveillance, how dangerous surveillance is and showing how it works by a short hook video that I made at the first scene so that people are easily understood and perceive the surveillance as something important. Furthermore, this video also persuades the audiences to beware of using social media especially, when post something that is related to personality.

Reflation of how I structured this video

Content

The decision of made this video is because I have interest in exploring surveillance in detail therefore, the content are describing surveillance generally and sharing awareness of how dangerous surveillance is on network platforms. To achieve that I demonstrate the content in 2 different ways , first is using a short video, in this short video which is located at the first scene, I attempt to convey a message about how dangerous surveillance is on online media by showing that what we put on networked media could have an impact in reality. Furthermore, another way is describing/explaining ‘what is surveillance’ in general thru scholarly sources and ‘is surveillance good or bad’ using scholarly sources and article to support the example.

Strategy

Planning, this is crucial because this is the key part of a strategy, in my video I planned the story based on a film called ‘Escape room’, where in this film basically depicted a group of people are being watched by others without permission, therefore, the core of the film I took as a referenced to develop the narrative. Selection of source material, the material of this video are research source, picture and music. I actually make use of the Deakin library to find out about reliable sources that fit with the topic so that the content is trustworthy, yet about music and pictures I use creative common (C-C) where I can access all the music and pictures freely and legally but, some of the pictures are also made with canvas. Selections of Picture, this part I have to choose properly and legally because it must be related to the topic so that to achieve that, I actually make use of creative commons and others design apps like Canva to make a banner for the video as well as my blog. Sound, as a person who is concerned with the back sound and tone voice in a video, I tried to make it better than the first video. This video was made with varieties of the sound like original sound, sound effect and 2 back sound. Regarding to back sound I used songs called ‘Royalty free cinematic trailer’

And ‘Royalty free trailer Background music’ and about sounds effect I used Alarm, Car and keyboard typing. Editing, so, in this section I only put all of the elements that I write above into a brief video format yet, to achieve that I had to spend a lot of time due to put everything properly and structurally. However, one of the difficult things in editing is matching the back sound with the video so that it does not get messy. Furthermore, I did add some important things like text overlay to write several words that are related to the topic, basic effect for the display of the video like cctv point of view, I changed the color to B&W to make it looks real, and last but not least the structure, I actually develop this video with cinematic version from Lost leblenc in order to make them aesthetic.

Lesson and Challenge

In this video I have learned a lot about the surveillance system broadly, and how surveillance works in society. In the production of my video I have a lot of issues that I encountered and challenge that I passed, one of the issues is sound, because I do not have microphone system, I have to creatively use my phone to record separately , this also challenge me to match the sound and video together when it comes to editing. The second challenge for me is talking directly in front of the camera, as a shy person I actually cannot do that but, in this video I have overcome my shyness and try to be confidence by full preparation and practices.
